  • Job Functions:

    Regent Properties is looking to employ a Senior Accountant. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for the financial accounting/reporting for real estate investment companies owned by either a privately held real estate company, joint venture, or Investment Fund. This will involve interaction with third party fund administrators, asset managers, and tax and audit service providers (Big 4). This position will require knowledge of Fund accounting, financial statement preparation and public accounting experience in the real estate industry.

  • Day-to-day work includes:
    • Draft year end audited financial statements including fair value, IFRS, and US GAAP and unaudited quarterly financial statements.
    • Prepare fund consolidations on a quarterly and annual basis.
    • Prepare audit schedules and assist with the year-end audit requests.
    • Review tax returns prepared by service provides (Big 4).
    • Prepare tax schedules for tax returns support, REIT testing, and book to tax projections for investors at year end.
    • Handle full-cycle fund accounting for various fund including preparation and analysis of the financial statements, general ledgers, and subsidiary ledgers.
    • Perform all month-end reconciliations, bank reconciliations, equity pick-up and understand all entries and postings to balance sheet and income statement accounts for assigned funds.
    • Review monthly books prepared by third party fund administrator.
    • Prepare and review monthly loan draws, quarterly loan compliance and ad-hoc lender requests.
    • Work with investor relations group in the preparation and delivery of monthly, quarterly, and annual investor reporting including investor capital statements.
    • Assist with ad-hoc requests from investors, review and prepare capital call and distributions statements.
    • Implementation and set up of the Investment module for investor reporting and consolidation in MRI.
  • Qualifications, Requirements and Skills:
    • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from a four-year college or university program with an emphasis in accounting. CPA a plus but not required.
    • A minimum of two to five years of public accounting experience in the real estate industry required. 
    • Advanced knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) regulations including an advanced knowledge of financial terms, principles, and accounting methods. IFRS a plus but not required.
    • Ability to explain financial information both verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex documents. 
    • Detail oriented as reflected in accuracy in work product.
    • Advanced knowledge of computer software and hardware (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite Products and MRI is a plus).
    • Decisions made with understanding of procedures, company policies, and business practices to achieve general results and deadlines.
